The Hyde Band’s musical heritage is deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Fordingbridge. Established in 1895 by the visionary Mr H. E. ‘Bert’ Shutler, the band began its remarkable journey in the charming Gorley area.

Originally formed as a Fife and Drum Band of local musicians, it gradually evolved into the Brass Band we proudly recognise today.

Over the decades, The Hyde Band has not simply endured—it has flourished. Embracing changes in musical styles and the needs of its community, its story is one of adaptability, dedication, and passion. Every note played reflects a shared spirit of togetherness and local pride.
